How good are those 505's? I have a freind with some Monsoon 2.1 speakers, and they sound pretty good at low volumes in games like Homeworld. Homeworld sounds drop-dead amazing on those things, the audio really shows what Monsoons are made of. But I'm debating on what speakers I should get - your offer on the 505's is rather interesting, but I also am taking a gander at the Logitech Z560's. Klipsch also has refurb Promedia 4.1's on their site, so that's another option.
Can you give a little more on how those sound, I have realitives asking me what I want for Christmas (bahumbug!) and I've been thinking about some new speakers. Here's my problem - I live in a house with hardwood floors and walls so thin you could probably see through them if you tried. Is their a ton of bass on those things? From what I recall, I don't think their is as their drivers are small and the wattage isn't all that high.
Another thing before I make a decision - I've heard flat-panels have problems producing some freqencies, and their crossover isn't that great. Do the 505's suffer from this? If they exibit issues, I'll just spring for the Z560's.

the 505's are awesome. I bought them when they were on sale at circuit city for $50 after rebates. The only drawback is the bass isn't mega thumping, but I have neighbors. The sound is crisp and clear, you'll be blown away by movies and gaming. I did have a problem putting the speakers on stands, but that's not a big deal. These speakers are definitely worth the $75

Well are they better or worse than the Logitech Z560's? I face the dillema of living with others that don't want a ton of bass coming from my room.

Tell you what....this decision is very, very tough. It's so close. I have a freind with Monsoon 2.1 speakers, I'll listen to those. The Z560's are "just" 4.1's, not 5.1's, and may have too much power for my living arangment. Can you put a "sale pending" sign up, so I can give it some more thought?
Here's why: My grandparents are already asking me what I want for Christmas (groan/bahumbug), and I have been checking out speaker systems to compliment my Audigy. 5.1 is 1.0 better than 4.1, and I really like the sound quality on the Monsoons.
More questions: How good is the crossover? What does the sub sound like? Are the sattilites tinny at all? Can you replace the speaker wire?
Grrr! This is to hard!

I saw a set of Monsoons in the flesh today and was watching this thread to see any opinions, etc.
Now, this is wierd. The box at the top of the page said there had been 7 replies to this thread, so I checked in to see what anybody might have to say about these, etc.
What I found was exactly one reply. Wonder what'll happen to this one??? OOOOOOoooWEEEeeOOOooooooo.....
