Help with similar computer

Hi I am with the Mississippi Natl Guard in Iraq. I was given a 600YGR computer which was inop by another soldier leaving for the states. I had our IT tech get it working again. Cause gateway was less than helpful. The problem is I am running a generic video driver because the correct one makes the microsoft blue screen of death appear. Our IT tech is a Dell Tech Rep and he is trying to sell me a new laptop. I like this one. Anoter solder said it was possible to replace the video card for another one how togh is this. I work on helicopters so replacing a defective part seems like ut would work to me. I just do not have enough background to figure this one out myself any suggestions
