I have an older laptop, hard drives, games, cd drives, celeron/ram combo, and a DSL modem for sale.

Beats me, I have never used a 8mb drive. I am sure someone can provide a quick explanation here... Anyone?

The 8 meg cache drives are better when they're transferring a bigger file situated on a lot of adjacent blocks on the drive, the read-ahead logic can get that data to the buffer and have more of it ready to go. Video and audio editing would be a couple of f'rinstances where it helps.

In most applications, the difference is negligible.
