is pc-tel same as conexant?

I build old p200 boxes for retired seniors in our rv parks, so need older stuff. Recently ordered 10 pc-tel/rockwell 56k v90/92 pci data/voice fax/phone modems...i ordered from us-depot.com
The modems i got are conexant 56k pci soft modem driver ver 2.11.06.02...i could not install these in first two boxes i tried. The third had mmx and it took, therefore it appears these modems require mmx, but i have installed many of the pc-tel modems that were not mmx.
Should i return? Is pc-tel and conexant same? Anyone know? Now i got 20 pc tel with problems, and 10 conexant that wants mmx. Any ideas?

I just got a PC-TEL modem that installed as a HSP 56 Micro Modem if that will help any.I got it from Compgeeks. It's a good modem. They sent it with a burned disk for drivers. No problems with it though.

I heard that Intel bought conexant, not sure if that is true though.

Conexant is the former Rockwell. They make fairly inexpensive "winmodems". Not owned by Intel, AFAIK.
