Modems...cheeep w/driver
Hi all...am back seeking low priced older modems for these p200 am building. Got low cost hard drives from 5 guys in here, and they all work ok but one, now need maybe 20 56k modems, internal with drivers. These are for Seniors just starting out, and no profit, so price is main thing...but dont want alot of cheap modems that dont work. Please respond like u all did re the 1-2 gig hard drives i got. Thanks, Bill

I might have a few lying around. If so, they're yours for shipping. If you need some old hard drives still, I have some of those too.

I looked aroundmy room and only found one. I might have a few others lying around, but can't seem to find them. The one that I found is a Jaton Wincomm56. Drivers are readily available online for this modem. If interested, PM me.

The only catch is that p200 may or may not run a lot of the winmodems that are around today. What you need are some nice old ISA hardware modems like the US Robotics 0584.

Good point JP. I've got a US Robotics 0396 14.4 ISA if ya' want it. It came out of an old Gateway 2000. I don't know where to find drivers for it, but it might work on default drivers.

Yeah, the winmodems can cause havoc an dheadaches in the old pentium1's....some of them require MMX, some require 233mmx etc. I put a Netodragon (motorola) in a P1-166ish and it was terrible, wouldnt load webpages worth beans....I put in a usr ISA and it rocked...the only catch is that peeps know it and they run you about 15$ in for sale forums like anands.

i have a 56k X2 modem pulled from a P2 333 gateway that you can have for 8 shipped(will ship express mail for ya, that is why the price is so high) with DC and insurance...works great, and if you flash it, you can get 56k speeds on it(its a 56k modem, but the technology is outdated, X2 wont go above 33.6 unless flashed to v.90) LMK, i can have it out to ya tuesday

btw, that X2 is an ISA card, and it is a pull from a gateway 2000 system(i upgraded to a 56k USR 3094 v.90 modem and dont need this one)
