Help w/ selecting a PIII 1.0 GHz

I acquired a computer this week that has a slot 1 w/ the card in it that has a socket 370. After researching the board, I've found that I can go up to a PIII IGhz. First, do I just use the existing card in it and slap the PIII in it, or what? I've seen the processors in the card shape and am unsure what to use, I'll attach a pic here in a minute. Here's a link to the board specs:
http://www.bcmcom.com/tech/QS440bx/QS440BX.htm
It says up to 850 MHz on the first page, but with the latest bios it supports the 1GHz.

Pricewatch has them for around $90

I've also seen people saying it runs on a par to a 1.6 P4, any insight on that?

Edit: fixed link

BTW, It MUST be a 100Mhz FSB chip, not the 133 FSB version which I find easily.

That's the first time I had to look upside-down to get a look at the Mobo.

This is always the killer. I can't even begin to tell how many times I've spent waaaay too much money only to make something "work", just to find that I might as well have just leaped instead of hopped. If you got the board for free/cheap, then that's great. For other folks who pay $90 on a pricewatch deal, I think about the Geek's deal for $69 with board/350watt10-bay case/keyboard/mouse/speakers etc. and you just can't beat that stuff with a ball-peen hammer!!!!

I fight over rebuilding my 5 year old daughter's PC 'cuz I specifically searched my butt off to find a current AT size board for my old AT case,(overpaid), then just had to yank the old Cyrix P166+ out of it to search for a Pentium 233mmx, (overpaid), 'cuz I just *had* to o/c the thing to 266....etc. etc. 'Bout the only good thing to come out of it was I was able to utilize an old stick of 64mb PC133 ram + the 16mb 72pin EDO SIMM in it to make for 80mb of RAM.......yeeehaaawww. (like that makes it all worthwhile......LOL!!!)

Are you looking for a Slot 1 Processor or a socket 370 to put into a slocket?

If it supports Tualatin processors, you could pick up a Tualatin Celeron for a nice performance increase!

Newegg has a 1.3 ghz celeron with 256 mb l2 cache for $45. You might want to go over to www.powerleap.com and check out their database.

A quick look https://www.quickbase.com/db/6v74ue7...rchtxt=QS440BX yields mixed results with the tualatin.

If you can get either a Tualatin PIII (and are willing to pay big money) or just a Celeron Tualatin working, you would be doing fine.

I'm looking for either/or on the chip. My problem is that I have a fsb of only 100, so that's kinda hard to find. Thx for the reply though! It's only a fad cruncher, so I want to stay in the $50 range. I've been scouring ebay, but have found no great deals yet. Celeron is okay though, I just would prefer pIII

EDIT:

Looks like that 1.3 is 100 FSB. could someone look at those board specs and assure me it's gonna work? It says only to 1000Mhz. I'd be willing to lose some of the performance of the 1.3 (like if it only runs at 1000) but I want it to at least work.

Thanks!
