What was the last thing that happened before it went unstable? Storm, upgrade, overclock, new software, blue screens of death???

This could save you some money if we know what the problem is.

This motherboard is manufactured by First International Computer and was sold in Systemax computers. I have read FAQ's on both web sites and they say that the board at that clock speed along with windows installed = An Unstable system , It has to do with the Irq's that bios assigns to windows drivers being reassigned when windows starts up (or vice versa} but as far as I can tell there is no fix or patches for this problem . Does anyone have a clue?

I guess I'm severly confused here:

"PAG 2130 MB running at 533mhz" does that mean your processor is 533mhz, or have you overclocked it to 533mhz, or is the FSB 533mhz?

Also,

"I have read FAQ's on both web sites and they say that the board at that clock speed along with windows installed = An Unstable system"

Which version of windows? 3.1, 3.11, 3.11a, 3.11 for workgroups, 95, 95b, 98, 98 SE, ME, XP, NT, 2000, 2000 Server (and it's family) 2000 Pro, XP, XP Pro

We need more information to help you out. Also, how much memory, what kind of processor, all these things contribute to the success or failure of a system.

If you are running a 5 year old board with 64mb of ram on Windows XP Pro, it's gonna be unstable - you can bet.

How many programs are running (how many at the same time), could be an overload for the amount of memory you have.

What kind of background apps are running?

Have you checked the power supply (to see if it has gone bad or not giving enough juice)

Physical environmental things give problems too. Do you get power surges, had a storm before the incident happen?

Please advise

This system has a PAG-2130 motherboard, processor is an Amd k6-2 set to run at 533mhz (factory set by either First International Computer, or Systemax who distributed the systems), running Windows 98se, 56 megs of ram. I have actually reinstalled windows 98se on the hard drive so the only programs running are basic programs that come with windows 98se. I have not check the power supply, and as far as the client has told me is that his daughter reinstalled programs that were already installed and the system crashed, but that is why I reformatted partioned and reinstalled windows. The system will boot and windows will load to the desktop, but randomly if I click on anything at anytime(such as my computer, control panel,go to device manager) The system restarts to post.

Before you junk it, take a good look at the capacitors nearby the processor socket. If any of them are bulging, split, or leaking, that could be your culprit. The processor is getting dirty or noisy power and it can cause stuff like this. Any good TV/electronics tech can replace those caps and possibly save you some grief.

I've saved a good half-dozen otherwise good boards this way.
