Nowadays, most CD drives can read old Cds. The technology has matured pretty much. These have given no problems as far as I know. I use only generic CDs and have had no issues.
However, if you want to burn Cds, its better to burn at slower speeds if you want greater reliability and fewer errors. The Plextors/Yamahas are the best but cost 4-5 times as much.
