WTB: Slot A Processor, 200-250 Watt or Better PSU

Hey Guys,

I'm bringing an old HP with a K7M motherboard up to specs for my brother. The system currently has a Slot A 850Mhz Athlon T-Bird; I'm looking for a faster Slot A processor than that but I'm unsure if they are out there. Some sites mention 1Ghz Slot A processors, that or faster is preferable. For that matter, something better than this crappy old 185 Watt HP PSU would be handy too, so I'm looking for that too

You will probably find a motherboard and cpu upgrade more economical. Tiger Direct has some nice combos (like xp1800ish) for around a hundred bucks. Slot A processors never really dropped in price before they were discontinued, so a new motherboard and faster cpu would probably be less expensive.

A mobo/cpu combo would prolly be cheaper than a 1000MHz+ slot A cpu by itself.

if you are already at an 850Mhz slotA you dont have much upgrade room left and the 950Mhz slotA are going for like $100 on ebay so that wouldnt really be a very good performance/price deal.

You could get a Duron 1.2ghz and cheap motherboard and it would smoke a 1G slot A anyway.

As far as power supplies, if it is the little micro sized HP deal you may not be able to find a 250 watter.

Okay, well, alternately does anyone have a Duron/Tbird Motherboard and chip combo out there they want to get rid of? As cheap as possible, please.
