A co-worker of mine wants me to build him a computer for his tax refund due this week. He wants one just like mine and I thought, why not sell him my computer and build myself a new one.

$450.00 would be fair. Could build it new for about that or a little more($550.00 at the most) I think. It's used and that should be considered. Will a monitor, speakers, keyboard, and mouse be included? What OS and included software. That could make a large increase in value.

Just the tower, I could throw in an OS as I have new OEM versions of 98SE or XP Pro. But that would just increase my cost and his. He'll buy his own OS.

If you were to try and sell it to me I'd probably pay $400 for it if I was looking for a computer(saw a 2.53ghz dell for $399 not to long ago) but since this person probably doesn't know where to get them for that price I'd say you can get $600(with OS and lifetime tech support) for it.

Well, I just built a computer for a co-worker this weekend.
I had her buy the parts from Newegg, and I put it together. I didn't charge her to put it together because, like most of you, I actually enjoy doing it.

She'll probably take me out to lunch, or cover a shift, or buy me a case of beer, or etc...
But I am not trying to make a profit.

The point is, if it is a fellow co-worker, help 'em out. It will all come out in the end anyway.
