You've probably already looked but Newegg has Lite-On 52x CDRW drives and 16x DVD drives in black for only $2.00-3.00 more than the standard beige/white. What specifically are you looking for?

Well by "deals" I mean, like for instance any week you can get a 48x cdrw from office max for like $20 after the rebates etc.
And you can get 17" crt monitors pretty regularly for say, $80 or less.
So that is my frame of mind for "deal".
specifically at the moment I have ordered a compaq presario 6000z to sell..it is coming with dvd but if I could find a cheap cdrw in black it would be nice. The drives are black etc..white would look stupid.
And also a monitor that matches it...I have a white compaq Fs740 so maybe I will just put it together with that but it wont look all that great.
Of course I have handfuls of white cdrws so maybe I SHOULD find a decent quality way to paint them, lol.

Ive had a black computer for about 8 months now. Its a pain finding deals on black components. The only exception are speakers, which usually come in black anyways, and LCD monitors, which usually come in silver or black. Otherwise, you'll pretty much be stuck paying the asking price, which usually carries a moderate premium over the biege part.
Theres some things I wish were availible in black that arent, such as the slot loading DVD drive, the Pioneer 106s, and Black CD-RW's tend to lag one generation behind the latest. (Not that 44x is going to make you wait that much longer than a 40x, but its something to think about).
For external components, Logitech makes some of the best periphials, and they all come in a standard black/silver finish, and match a black environment pretty well. This includes thier webcams, keyboards and mice.

Buy your drives on sale with rebates etc. and try this: http://www.gideontech.com/guides/vinyldye/ It's cheap, easy, and looks good. Better than just painting them. It doesn't wear off or crack and looks like it's from the factory.

I could do that on my plastic components I think, with out screwing it up, but I would have to use black paint on the metal surfaces of the case I suppose. I wonder how hard it woul be to get a good match with , say Krylon? And would you use Gloss ,semigloss or what? Rourkris you got me thinking, I'm looking at this new pc I put together with used parts as sort of an experimental box. The cd, cdrw , floppy are out of a Compaq that was sort of a dark blue. The cae is the standard beige color , I'm thinking black might be cool.
