WTB: Perfect Counter Strike Server Computer

I need a Counter Strike server. Nothing too special, just enough to run a dedicated Counter Strike server. Needs to have atleast 500mhz, 10/100 NIC, 128MB RAM, CDROM, FDD, 10gig HDD, "OK" video card, and tower.

I do have a video card, and 10/100 NIC, so if you don't have one, thats ok.

I don't want to spend more than $200. Remember just something to have a dedicated Counter Strike server, nothing too fancy.

Thanks

how about a barebones system?

all you need to add is a hard drive and video card. you don't need a 64 meg video card for a dedicated server. maybe like a 4 or 8 meg card.

you might want to look for some something higher up for 28 people. espically the bandwidth

just a thought

If the map has spawn points for over 20 people then it can support them. But lots of maps get laggy with over 20 players as they werent designed for it.

You're definitely going to need more RAM to run a solid server. Check out this site:

http://server.counter-strike.net/

28 is a heavy server load, you may find that your server gets laggy or clients get a lot of choke packets if you have anything more than about 14-16 players on a system like the one you specified - even with a linux-based server.

Oh, as a final note - I believe the max players that CS allows 128. Not that you'd ever have a map that could be a comfortable environment for that many.
