Kids

As in...cable/dsl router, or a dedicated network router?

Sorry, let me explain. I want a cable / dsl router.

My whole house is networked with cat 5 ports and there is a box in the master bedroom's closet with a router and all the wires to the cat 5's

My main room has a cat 5 port in it and i want to put another router in there so i can connect 3 computers to the internet in one room.

I have two other computers hooked up in two other rooms.

I'm a bit confused. Why do you need ANOTHER router? Why not just use a proxy or ICS? All you need then is another switch uplinked into the existing one.

Am I on the wrong path here?

Cheers
Mick

Hmm, mickwish has a point.

In any case, you've got PM, iNeb.

Use a switch (switching hub) for the PC's in the master bedroom, and then connect the switch's uplink port to the router via the cat5 port.

Cheers

So a hub would work for me?

Lets say i had this in one room

Cable modem > Router > Hub > Computers

That would work?

Yep, if you used a proxy like ICS to allow all the PC's to get internet access. Depending on the router and hub, you might also be able to have multiple IP internet access with this set up as well.

Cheers
