Give away components

I am using two old Dell Pentium Pro (full-sized) PCs for upgrading. It turns out that the only things worth recycling are the cases and floppies. I am replacing everything else.

I have the following:

2 200-watt power supplies

2 mobos (1 with Pentium Pro 200MHz and 1 with Pentium Pro 180MHz)

a handful of RAM sticks (64 megs in one box and probably 32 or 64 megs in the other box) PCs are from 1996 so the RAM is pretty archaic

1 CD-ROM drive

1 1-gig HD
1 2-gig HD
1 4-gig HD

2 PCI video cards (I glanced at one last night and it said S3 Virge but I forget how much RAM they had on them when I bought them - probably 4 megs or maybe 8 megs at most).

2 sound cards

2 - 3 modems

My 4 year old daughter has been using one of these boxes for emailing and educational games, etc. so they are not totally worthless.

Here's my question. I would like to give away the components to a charity or educational organization that can use them constructively to help people get some good job skills etc. instead of selling them for maybe $20 total. Can any of you point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

Well , I am building pcs in anticipation of opening a pc skills learning lab at a half -way house that I do charity work for. Right now I have 2 cases , a couple cpus ranging from 200 - 366 mhz. 1 video card, no hard drives and no ram. I do have some floppies and cd drives.
So far I have built 3 complete systems for them and delivered them, they haven't got the electricity for them run yet.Eventually I hope to have 10 set up for them. Built 3 from the parts of the 5 I received. This last batch of stuff doesnt have enough parts for me put together any yet, so I am waiting for more parts. I don't know where you are , but it is a non-profit organization with tax free donation status.
If you want more info just drop me a PM or email. John

Email me at jeffreydurbin@yahoo.com.

I am in Cedar Rapids, IA and I grew up in KC. I was down there during Christmas break and I can swing by in the near future.

I also have legal copies of Windows 95, NT 4.0 (2 copies) and 2 copies of two versions of Office (I think 95 and 97). I have one copy of Win 98 but I will reload that on one of the new PCs for my daughter.

I am in no way associated with them, but I've seen ads for the National Cristina Foundation ...they claim to be interested in taking donations of old PC equipment.

From their site:
Quote:
National Cristina Foundation (NCF) provides computer technology and solutions to give people with disabilities, students at risk, and economically disadvantaged persons the opportunity, through training, to lead more independent and productive lives.
Sounds good, except for that killer run-on sentance....

They attempt to match your items with organizations in your "geographical area". Donated equipment is removed by NCF's partner organizations or by NCF. Donors can also drop off equipment at a designated location or ship it to a site specified by NCF. Donors will be provided with documentation stating the Fair Market Value of the donated equipment and information about where it has been placed.

Thanks. I think they are more interested in full PCs as opposed to components but I will get more information. Fyxxer32 is building some PCs for a halfway house so that may work out better. But thanks for the information. My dad has two PCs at home and he might be interested in donating the old one.
