HP Pavilion 8754c Recovery CD
Lost mine I need to replace it but shipping is way to expensive on the HP site. Does anyone out there have one I can buy? The part number is 5065-6001.

Little word of advice: (this isnt thread crapping). My friend lost his HP recovery cd one time (2 years ago) and he bought his through eBay to replace it and HP voided his warranty because it was from a third party. I don't know if HPs policys have changed but you need to check with them before you do that. I see a risk of a voided warranty here.

the only way i could see it voiding his warranty is if the restore cds did not match the model he has. if these are original discs, hp has no way of knowing these didn't come originally w/his pc (provided he keeps mum about it).

Each CD has an ID number embedded in the disc that (if the system is installed) changes the CD KEY and ID from that system from what HP has on file for that system. I think it might be a privacy violation, but I dunno.

interesting, didn't know that.
well, we use hp systems at work and we always blow away the hd to install a customized version of XP (before it was NT). i've had to get a number of parts fixed over the years mostly NICs, hds, coupla cd/floppy drives and hp has never made this an issue. i never had any problems getting warranty service despite this.

Maybe your company have a business deal for it. Just like our school district can use the same restore cd on all the cds and Premio doesn't care as long as we have the business package. (All our systems are the same.. and I mean HD, RAM and everything)

nope, no special deal w/hp. in fact, we buy all our systems from a VAR. and the times that i've called for service, i bypassed the VAR.
we do have a special licensing agreement w/MS but this has no bearing on the thread of course.
