I got a nice laptop a few months ago from toshiba for 1279. Have you checked out those sites yet? like dell, sony, toshiba?

i just purchased one 3 days ago and it is a compaq presario 920us. comes with a 100 dollar mail in rebate and was priced at 1000. has dvd and cdrw so you can get stuff done. but no floppy. but then again floppy is going out of style. hope this helps your journey in getting a notebook pc.

Toshibas are pure crap. I had one a couple of years ago and it fell apart at the seams. I don't know about them now but from my POV I would stay away.

Well that is YOUR opionion thronka. I so happen think they are one of the better laptops. As versas your prefered comcrap. now those are worthless machines IMO.

My order of preferences are
Toshiba
Sony
Dell

All I was doing was helping out the guy looking for a decent laptop for him at a reasonable price. Not to get bashed by someone elses opionion.

I have 2 Toshiba's in the past 3 yrs and neither one had one single problem even the one the fell of the truck seat and hit the ground(jus had scratches) Both were very reliable.
