AngelCat needs help

Now that I've got your attention...

Here's the deal. Earlier tonite AC's mobo fried. The chipset fan had gone bad (bearings I think) letting the board overheat. Now the board won't boot.

I need to replace that system fast (she'll do/not do things to me).

We had planned to replace both our systems later this year with twins (see below) only now I've got to move this into overdrive. Please help out with any deallers you might know that could set up the whole deal. I am only one man, and will be looking myself, but you guys have beat me to the punch (and better deals) every time. (laying it on thick enough?)

Here's the specs for the NEEDED parts:

ABIT KX7 333r
Atlon XP 2000+
2x256 PC2700

Oh, yeah... The budget is under $300...

The rest I will be swapping from her current (dead) system until around Xmas.

Please help?

If you can push that barrier a little, you can get the board for $79 and shipping at multiwave, and the RAM and chip (w cooling fan) for $255 (free shipping) from Newegg. Dropping the second DDR chip will help, as that's what's putting you over the price limit. The board is $88 at Newegg with $4 shipping, but I doubt that Mwave will charge enough to make it worth paying the extra to get it all from Newegg. Hopefully someone else can do better.

Unfortunately Whir, that was about the price I had found elsewhere.

Unfortunately NewEgg is out of stock on the mobo...

Just checked at Mwave, seems like the mobo bundle plus one extra mem chip would be nice. All in one shipping and warranty.

Going to wait for morning before deciding, but have to do this before AC gets on this system and checks in here.

Thanx for the Mwave tip off!

CERuppel,

Newegg and mwave are the two main sites I go to for hardware. Mainly mobo's and peripherals. Lately I have been going to neweggs for a slight advantages on prices. Mainly free shipping. No problems from both vendors so far.

I guess, if you need those items now you should be okay either way. Lets get that box up and running.

Sorry about that dead mobo. Bound to happen sooner or later.

Hi guys, it tis the CaAaT.

I am using CE system to bring you the latest word on my system. It did boot this morning, but it is official, the chipset fan is DOA. Thank goodness, the mobo is just fine, and none the worse for wear.

We will be heading out shortly to try to find a new fan (among other things, like taking care of babydingbats 'children'.)

I want to thank you all for your concern, it really means a lot to me. Whir, CE said to send a special thanks for your help!

I will let you all know how things go later this evening.

WHOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!

It worked! We replaced the orignial chipset fan with a ThermalTake BlueOrb chipset fan. We also added a Enermax adjustable 80mm case fan as well. CE said when he first turned it on, he has to adjust the case fan, he said it sounded like the whole system was going to take off and fly like a plane! After a few tweaks here and there, this baby is running smooth as silk.

The new systems have been put on hold for now..........
