Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 - Modem problems

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 and am having trouble getting the computer to recognise its internal modem. At the moment, it is apparently connected to COM2 and uses IRQ 4. When I go into Control Panel/Modems and highlight the Modem on COM2, the diagnostics tell me that the modem is either not there or it is not connected properly. Can anyone tell me how to get over this problem - I am using the Windows 98 operating system.

At Home

Have you tried re-installing the drivers???? If that doesn't work, try removing the modem in the device mgr and restart your computer. Hopefully it will find the modem and re-install the drivers or ask for the driver disk. I'd go onnline and download the appropriate drivers first and have them ready to install when windows asks for them. Good luck!!

Ditto what pickel said!
That error usually happens when you don't have the correct drivers installed.!
