Every alleged or suspected Troll must be thoroughly investigated and proved to have committed the crimes they are accused of committing.
So who is judge and jury on this?
Who gave them the power/right to play judge and jury?
What proof are you using/accepting?

Seems to me that posting of any personal information by someone for the purpose of "labeling" someone else you had better be prepared to defend those actions in a court of law.

I personally would leave posting of such infomation to the courts as it will be the courts to decide who has or hasnt committed a crime. Then ONCE a court has ruled someone guilty and that infomation is made public (most court records are public info) then post that persons name and info since the courts found them guilty.

I know of a couple of times where people have been labeled as trolls and they truely didnt deserve to be labeled as such. If people are willing to label such people then I say let them atleast go to the point of filing a LEGAL statement with the legal authorities and see what the courts have to say about it....

Now lastly I will say that since these forums are privately owned then the OWNER has the right to ban people they choose not to allow into their forums for whatever reason but to publicly name someone without a proper proof then I think sooner or later someone is going to get sued...

Just my personal thoughts on this subject....

This is straight from our PM database (with personal information omitted). Decide for yourself:

Yes, burnt copies. If you can get it for less, please go ahead.

Thanks anyway.

--------------- A second PM thread appears below ---------------

from shahani to ### TIMO USER2 ###

With the Office CDs, I will enclose a floppy with an .exe file which will activate it. After installing, simply copy the file to your desktop and double click it.

That way no need to activate over phone/internet with MS and you can load on more that one PC.

What is your heatware?

As for your snippets of PM's Scott I would love to see the WHOLE line of communications between the purported buyer and the seller.

Seems to me (from what was shown) that Shahani was replying and thus could have been asked for a cheaper solution (which is still wrong but labeling him a Troll is over the line in my view unless your also going to publicly call the buyer a Troll since from what I have seen and been told was the one that asked for a burnt cd FIRST)

But I wouldnt expect to see that person admit that they asked.... (Some could even call that ENTRAPMENT?)

Anyways...Did the buyer also get banned from Techimo for illiciting warez? Are you publicly outing that person?

Maybe the best thing to have happen is no one to be allowed to sell software.... but I find it funny that Shahani has PERFECT Heatware at this time.

btw Scott, I have replied to your email to me. and again for the record I do not approve/condone of selling of illegal software.

The Shahani thing seems to have left quite a few people wondering and wanting to know more details.
I, for one, appreciate that you printed the info listed above. At least it gives us a bit of insight as to what happened.

My thoughts are that Shahani was around long enough to know that if he wanted to discuss anything to do with warez that he must take it outside the forum and therefore negate the forum's influence over his actions.
Therefore i am left wondering why Shahani stayed inside the confines of tech imo to continue discussing a trade deal or a sale, whichever it was. I think this is why there is some suspicion as to wether Shahani could have possibly been set up, and, if so, then Shahani's known and not always liked political views being the possible true cause of his being set up.

I believe this is what bothers some members who feel that what went down was a bit heavy-handed, calling the guy a troll and banning him when possibly a warning would have sufficed.
I, too, have wondered about this as i wasnt around when this took place. But maybe i wouldnt have had the chance to see for myself, i dont know.

On the other hand, i am all for immediately banning and labelling as trolls all people who dont complete their ends of deals with forum members, once it is proven to be a definite fact.

edited for spelling.

Update....I have since found out that is involves two seperate issues...One that didnt go to the point of an actual transaction and one that did.

I have sent email to the of the second (the completed transaction) and I am currently awaiting their reply.

It certianly helps to understand the "whole picture." We do not make decisions of this nature without first obtaining a legitimate level of proof.

Banned from TechIMO: laudrano
Relevant Thread: http://www.techimo.com/forum/t96344.html
Email Address: lliv0695@bellsouth.net
HeatWare: http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=24310

Website: Livingstons Computer Repair in AL
Website: COMPUTERS-4-EVERYONE (Angelfire site)

According to information made available from both parties, laudrano is suspected of sending damaged merchandise then editing his for sale thread to indicate "as is" only after the transaction was completed and the other trader lodged a complaint.

The email address for laudrano appears to be no longer functional, thus adding to the suspicion of this trader's activities.

What a rotten shameful thing to do to a fellow trader!
I have had over 200 parcels delivered to me, great majority via trading in forums, and i have had a few small surprises that made me a little upset, but never really been trolled.
And to send a different laptop and then amend their thread posts and then discontinue their email and then hang up on phone calls, these are the things a blatant troll would do.

I hope the people involved stay on this guy til he sends the stuff he got back to its owner. Bump for a resolution to this!
If he or she lived near me, you could count on me to pay this person a visit, and hopefully bring the police with me.

Well Rob....It was like pulling teeth to get confirmation of the info that was being spread to me as owner of another website and people expecting me to take it on their word when those people aren't in a position to have the full information in the first place.

I have since spoken directly with Scott and I think Scott and I have things straightened out between our two sites and I am glad to see that my expenditure with legal counsel has benefited Techimo as well and the resultant change of policy.

*edit for spelling*
