clarification of what's allowed

Is posting requests for services, such as website translations, allowed?

Anything not specifically prohibited is mandatory...

I don't see anything wrong with that, but then, I'm not a mod. If you don't see that it is prohibited on one of the sticky posts at the top of this section, then you're probably safe.

Thanks. I suspect it's allowed, but I didn't see any services request posts. Since I'm asking for a translation of an antispam site, the last thing I want to do is spam this forum!!

interesting question, can't wait to see what a mod says because I thought we only allowed listings for tangible items not services. The FAQ's and the trader's rules (Traders' Rules, Tips, & Tools) don't specifically say you can't ask for services however it does say I can't post advertisement for my services and everyone of the rules seems to lean towards only selling or trading tangible items.

I will say this though, posting this question here in the fs/ft forum is the wrong thing to do you should have pm'ed a moderator.

I don't know if I agree. It's not spammy, and people other than me can discuss as well as read the reply.

No, you can't post services for sale/trade or make requests for such either.

Hey, ER, what about graphics? If the end design is the "product" then I would say that the translation would serve as a similar "product." I was under the impression that you were allowed to ask for custom graphics.

We do allow that. But you can see how you get an end product.

Kind of like when people request a certain lenght of CAT5 cable or the like. There's a tangible item in the end. It's not open to continued or on-going service.

Now if someone were to say, ask for help with a web page over in the Tech Support forum. What goes on in PMs after the initial post is nobody's business but the PM-ers. I don't see why anybody couldn't just go and ask for help and then what transpires is their business.
