WTB external cooling fans

Hello,
I need 1 or 2 external cooling fans powered from USB ports???
I have to make my pc compartment better ventilated and cooled.
I hate to drill holes in the back or side walls.

Several items at the bottom of this page may be helpful for you. Then you could use just about any case fan. I happen to have several 80/92/or 120mm units depending on how much air you need to move. Check my listing here titled (Zepper's Closet: Antec by Seasonic PSUs, Aerocool Case, 1/8" Cable Clamps - More)Zepper's Closet or PM me for others I may not have listed.

USB connectors can't supply much current.

Well, I thought it wouldn't be a problem if you didn't have to drill on your case. Those PCI slot cover outlets are a very clean way to bring power to the outside without any drilling. They also have them to install in an empty drive bay. I hope that thing works for you.

Drilling/dremelling the case or slot covers is definitely a hassle compared to just having to plug something in for it to work. Don't get me wrong, I love DIY case modding, but I don't think that's what Derek is looking for here. I think he just wants a fan or three to plug in to the front or side of his case, and not have to worry about taking the dremel to his case and modifying it, then trying to run the wires where they are out of sight. I think he just wants to plug in his fan, then unplug it and put it away when he's done with it. The fact that CoolerGuys has these fans for like $2 right now also doesn't give much incentive for someone to cut or drill into their case.

By the way, some ATX Power Supplies, like the first version of the Antec TrueControl 550 (not sure about version 2.0) also have an external 4-pin molex jack in the back of the PSU, outside the case, so you could easily run a splitter (or just 1 wire if you only want 1 fan) out the back of the PSU if you have a power supply with that connection. Realistically, you could run anything that will run on +5v or +12v, possibly even something like a car amplifier (I'm actually working on something like that, running a car amp and subwoofer off of AC current from an old AT power supply).

Fans

Well thank you Douglas -
I still have 2 unused recepticles on the back of my pc.
1 has pins about 9 of them and the other is a recepticle 20-25.
Do they cary any power ???
Worst case scenerio I will have to get a power adapter for 110 get it down to 5 or 12 volts and get a splitter/adapter for the 4-pin molex jack .
