FS: HP Omnibook 6000 - $250 P3 700, 256, 20 gig 15"

I'm selling a laptop for a friend of mine and I need to get $250 for it (he won't take any less at the moment). The laptop is in my hands right now (i've been servicing it for him) and is an HP Omnibook 6000. Features include:

PentiumIII 700 mhz
256 Megs Ram
20 (maybe 18, but i'm pretty sure it's 20) gb hard drive
WINDOWS 2000 Installed with License and full set of Recovery Disks
WINDOWS NT 4.0 Recovery CD with License
DVD-ROM
Floppy Drive (shares the same bay as the DVD or can be used externally)
56.6 K modem
10/100 NIC
15.0" SVGA screen (I think the native resolution is 1024*768, no dead pixels from what I can tell)
Rage Mobility Video Card
Touch Pad
USB
Track Stick (I think i have the wrong name for it)
AC Adaptor

Now for the bad things (hey, I gotta be honest):
Battery - it is included but i've been unable to get it to hold a charge, it could be fixed or replaced
Keyboard - works fine, but many keys feel kind of glossy due to long use over the past few years
Case - The case is as solid as can be expected, but along the back there are a couple small (about 1 cm) long cracks near the NIC and Modem connectors. My advice, don't toss it down a stairwell, but from how I have been using it, it doesn't seem to be a problem. Also, the lower flap to the PCMCIA slot seems to be missing (the upper one is there though).

Turns out there is just one crack that I can find near the NIC/Modem


The 2nd crack is along the front of the case. Again, this doesn't seem to effect it.

Bump for a nice lappy, I have its brother. It has served me well, very nice unit. Unfortunately mine has a bum bettery as well, if the one in this one was good i would jump on it.

Got 512 in mine so it will take it.

Looks like Ebay is a bit hit & miss on these. You may do better than $250, maybe not. With the cracks and bad battery, could be a bit sketchy. BTW, I'm still using an OB6K that I bought used in 2001 and it's still going strong! I'm on my second or third keyboard and even now, have worn the letters off 8-10 of the keys! Good luck.
