Simm memory upgrade for my endtable

To make a long story short, I have an alpha 1000a as an endtable. I found 16 sticks of 64mb 72pin ram (total of a gig), however alpha's dont like EDO memory. So it is running with 4 sticks of 16mb-- 64mb.

What I am looking for is same size sticks of parity 72 pin ram. Ideally in sets of 4. Bigger the better


This monster can take up to 20 sticks of ram and up to 256mb each (at least according to the users manual-- as I have never seen a 265mb simm...)

16 of those are parity 72pin simms in sets of 4 then for each of those sets you can add an ecc. So the dream settup is 4 parity and a matching ecc. Though the 5th ecc chip is not required.

If anyone has any parity 72 pin or ecc 72pin laying around please pm me.


I think this box has found its home on our home network-- serving as a debian PDC, the problem is that with 64mb ram it is a little slow at authenticating shares on the fileserver (file server joined to the domain).

So 16 32MB modules would be good?

Ill have a look see Thursday and see what I have, I can probably find that many.

Do all 16 have to be matched or just each series of 4? I would think just each 4 but asking anyway.

I have a matched set of 4 32's, I have been trying to find the other 3 sets with no luck. Ive got several large boxes full but w/o testing i can not find sets that are visibly identifiable and I have little time for testing.

I will glady send you these 4 for now if you PM me your addy and reimburse me for the shipping, should be $1 or 2 at most.
