What socket?
what specific type of CPU is it?
what size case is it going in?
ATX...
Micro ATX...
does it hasve to have an AGP slot or can it have built in only graphics?
if this is a pre-built "company"branded computer, i.e. Compaq, gateway, etc. ,,,, it may be more complicated than you think...
be more specific with what your looking for, and you will have a better chance of getting what you need...

Well this may not be what your looking for, but if the socket is 478, maybe you should make the jump to DDR...

The DDR and decent built in graphics may well be MUCH greater than your current setup...
Refurbs are cheap and probably way more reliable than someones used stuff, plus theres a low hassle return option you may have less trouble with, than random posters on the net...
Just a thought

Hey , I found this at Computer Geeks .com:

That's about all you can get for sdram anymore.

Did Socket 478 use PC133 ram at all? I'm wondering if it's actually PC2100 DDR ram, which I think is 133 MHz bus (x2 = 266 MHz, the PC2100 speed - right?).

To original poster: replacing a motherboard is not nearly as easy as replacing something like a drive. If you've never done it before, be prepared for some unexpected work. Motherboards are pretty inexpensive. I think I threw away some recently that might have been similar to what you have. I have a spare Soyo socket 478 motherboard now, that's fairly high-end, but it won't work with your memory.

You are right, there, but there were socket 478 boards that supported sd-ram as well, usually it would take 1 or the other.

A mobo upgrade is generally not a beginner thing w/o some help either, no, that is agreed.

Still need a board jlh007??
