for video cards...head over to Sweeper2's thread http://www.resellerratings.com/forum/t114471.html

he has an FX5900XT 256bit for only 100 bucks shipped.

and, really, having 256mb of video RAM is not much better than 128mb...might aswell get a 128mb card so that your card, in th end, will have better performance. Much better to get an FX5700 128mb than an FX5200 256mb(if they even make one).

edit/ btw....you can't have a PCI-E card if you have an AGP motherboard...

I run BF2 on my FX5200 with 128mb of RAM....

...for 90 bucks...you can get a much better card than mine. The ONLY game that would really utilize ALL of the 256mb is Doom3...and it doesn't even. 256mb is not necessary in any way.

Sweeper had a brand NEW FX5700 for 80 bucks shipped...that would run BF2 on medium just fine.

I purchased a 128MB Leadtek 6800 LE AGP card from Newegg for $124. OC'd it to 425Mhz for core and 900Mhz for memory(conservative OC) and haven't had any problems. No artifacts or lock ups. In fact, tried out FarCry and now I can notice the ripples in the water. Have been playing BF2 for a couple of weeks now, haven't noticed any problems except for how long it takes to actually load up a map...

Overall, for the money, not a bad buy...
