Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this or not.
My Laptop died on me. I was in a bind and needed a replacement asap so I bought a brand new one. My old one can be repaired for $500. As far as we can tell the mobo went out. I am thinking of selling it as is, or possibly fixing it and selling it. What are your thoughts?

If it did work I don't think it would be worth more than $600-$700, but With it being broke, I don't think it's worth much at all to anyone else unless they have access to the parts and can repair it themseleves.

So basically, if I fix it, and spend $500, I could only expect to get $100-$200 back out of my original $2000 investment.
That sucks. Maybe I will go have some shotgun practice. |

It is going to cost $500 to fix.
If fixed he is saying it will be worth $600-$700.
$600-700 minus the $500 repair bill leaves $100-200.
I paid $2000 for it and am only going to get $100-$200 for it and even that is not guaranteed. Might as well take it outside and see what the old 12 guage does to it.

Thanks
You may be able to get $100 or more on Ebay in as-is broken condition. Here is an auction that should give you a rough approximation of what the laptop is worth working...given your laptop is a bit better but doesn't include the external DVDRW...what this one goes for should be an accurate minimum, especially given the seller's low feedback. Don't judge it until the auction is over, of course.

before taking the shotgun to it you could always salvage it for parts
the hard drive alone is worth about $70-$80 (judging by for how much people put them up F/S)

I'll take it for 200 if you want to sell it.
