Is this for a project? or for an general upgrade type thing, because you can get a new mobo/cpu/ram for around $100

i have a micronpc se440bx-2 w/a p3 500/100fsb/slot1, 512m pc100, 16m agp 4x.
this is a donated computer, and all i wanted to do was boost the performance with a p3 800/100fsb...all i do is browse and watch 'usenet' movies (DVIX) and use my TV tuner.
i considered a combo, and was offered, and found online, a few good deals, but most of the stuff would have required other upgrades i can't afford.

i can't see putting too much into this one, but if i can get a gig+ out of it for <$100 i guess that's alright.

i found this:http://www.surpluscomputers.com/stor...&item=MBB10451
and this:http://www.surpluscomputers.com/stor...&item=CPM10249
and it would let me use my 200w case...then i could make another move later.

i've also found a 370/slot1 adapter with fsb jumpers for $15 shipped, so...maybe a celeron or p3 1g+ (but for how much?)

i seriously thought i would get a 800/100 for about $50, then do a 64m agp next month, and that would be the end of it.

if ANYBODY has a serious recommendation/offer/deal that would work, i want to know about it.

Well, if this would have been last week I could have showed you a deal with a Sempron 2500+ Retail with mobo and 1GB of kingston PC2700 RAM for ~$130 shipped, but you still can get a Mobo/Sempron combo for $75 + ~10 shipping. Ram is real cheap these days and if you watch here on RR and other deal sites you can find a good amount for pretty cheap. That would be a worthy upgrade in my opinion.

If you can get that setup for $120 it would be worth it.
While much of it is getting old, it would be a big step up from what you have. I would beg him again to hold it.
