ok, there's a long story behind this laptop (at least between the guy I bought it from and me
)
I bought this laptop from Uppie1414, aka Dane at Hardforum with the following spec:
Dell Inspiron 8000
Intel Pentium 3 800 Mhz
10 gig harddrive
512 RAM
15 inch wsxga+ screen
CDRW drive
32 meg geforce2go Video Card
wireless card
2 batteries
64 meg usb flash memory key
$550.00
basically we did a partial trade, I traded 100 paypal + 325 Money order + 2 Brand New Sealed Maxtor PATA 160Gb 8mb HD for his laptop, I wanted to get this laptop quick, because I need it for my school work, Dane told me that he had to go to his sister's wedding that weekend, and will send me out as soon as it's done.
In the mean time, I found a better deal on a better laptop from other guy, but I made my first mistake but paypal him 100 that day, just so I can have the deal from Dane. As soon as I've acquired the laptop from other dude, I told Dane I want to back out, because I have already gotten the laptop from this other dude, and he is able to send it out that very weekend, which would fit my timing just right, but no, Dane would not let me back out, he said a deal is a deal, and I have to go through with it. so after talking to Dane, he told me he could send out the very next day as well. At that pointI thought, ok.. I guess I have to go through with it, otherwise I won't be able to get the 100 back
so after the long weekend, I went to bank and got the money order along with HD packed up, and I sent the Money order along with the HD on their way to Dane, keep in mine that I followed whatever Dane asked (sending the HD with the rest of the money, BEFORE he even send out the laptop, EVEN THOUGH we have the EXACT
[Update : 02_02_05: About the same, not EXACT] amount of heatware), then a week passed, and I talked to Dane, guess what, he has not send out the laptop yet! appearently the USPS package I sent him, the tracking system says it wasn't delievered, and no, even after seeing the tracking number, he did not believe that I've sent out the package, he still would not send out the laptop until he actually got a hold of the package. So another weekend has passed, and he finally got the package, appearently it was the bad weather that has delayed the delievery, meanwhile, I've got the laptop from the other dude well before the week ends. What has pissed me off is that he did not send out the laptop after I've follwed everything that he asked, when we have same amout of heatware, but appearently I did the get the same trust from him for whatever reason in the first place.
During the week when my package was going to his place, we've talked quite a few times, and Dane told me not to worry about it, he would help me to sell the laptop by keepping the laptop in his thread as for sale, and there's nothing to worry about.
So after he got the package that I've sent, he told me somebody was interested in the laptop, and could very well be the buyer. So after I thought for a while, I told him to just keep the laptop for couple days, see if the guys responds, since if this guy does buy it, then there's no point for Dane send the laptop to me, and I send the laptop to the buyer. 1 day passed, 2 days passed, he did not tell me how it went with the potential buyer, finaly I asked him, and he told me still no response, geez, thanks for letting me know!
At this point, I just want to get the laptop, I asked Dane to simply send it to me, I don't really care if this "potential" buyer respond while the laptop is on the way to me, I just want to get rid of this laptop as soon as possible.
After waiting for another week for the laptop to get to me, I was wondering what's taking so long, since he promised to do 2nd day shipping or at least priority when we first had deal, when he wouldn't let me back up after I've paid him 100 paypal. It turns out that he has send the laptop with USPS parcel. Boy, guess how I felt!!
Up on receiving the laptop, along with the freebies he agreed to throw in when we first talked (laptop bag, usb flash drive), I have to say I was let down again. It was no laptop bag, the lapbag is simply nylon bag, no padding what so ever, zero! AN NYLON !!! for God's sake. does not!! protect laptop in case Mr. Dane doesn't know! but no, oh no, he did not tell me, he tells me it's a laptop bag. I guess it's part of my fault that I didn't ask what kind of bag it is, or even if it has padding at all. In the pictures that he sent me, it looks like it is padded, and so I thought it's just like those nylon bag with paddings, he did not mention no padding, and I guess his arguement would be "that's what I use for laptop bag", while I believe that's a valid statement, I think he could've at least inform me that there's no padding, and should consider getting another laptop bag or something like that, but no!!! Geez, I guess I should be thankful that he didn't use paper bag and call it his laptop bag huh
.
Oh and another thing, after waited for so long, almost a month, he did not include the flash drive, appearently he forgot to pack it.
Anyway, I think this is long enough, I do not think I should bother you guys any more with the million other details that I could've included, but here is basically what I am selling (as he listed:

(up on booting the windows 2000, the installed OS, the resolution looks weird, all the icons looked stretched out vertically, and by setting the resolution to 1280x 1024 results black bars on both side of the screen) [Uppie1414 says just install the new driver should fix it, I do not want to use the laptop, I have not touch the laptop that much, I've only boot it up when I first got it, and is surprised by the time it took to boot up, takes about 3 min and 10 sec to boot up!)
