WTB: NIB Pentium 4 3.06 ghz

I am looking for a boxed Intel 3.06 ghz processor. zipzoomfly is backordered (probably a fancy term for out of stock) and other websites are either high priced, or suspicious. axiontech was trying to get $418 or something for a open box!

I did look around, and did not find anything. newegg did not have anything, so I am stuck. Any tips?

May I ask why the 3.06? Because of the 533FBS? Or because it

Because I came across a free motherboard, and that seems to be it's max specs.

could I get away with something bigger?

You need a cpu that matches these specs:

CPU

• Supports Socket 478 for Intel® Pentium 4 (Northwood only) processor
• Supports up 3.06G/533MHz and higher speed

FSB

• Support 400/533MHz Intel NetBurst micro-architecture bus

Try that, I buy from them rather often, good seller. Located in NJ.

Appears the link doesnt work, navigate to the cpu section using the links on the side, its a little way down the page.

INTEL P4 3.06GHZ CPU 533FSB RETAIL $204.60

..... you can get a brand new P4 520 CPU/motherboard combo at outpost.com for a whopping $210.
http://shop2.outpost.com/product/4291734

or even a retail boxed Athlon64 3000+ with a motherboard for $200.

Kinda makes buying a 3.06 pointless, IMO at least.

Well, when you can get a better CPU and Motherboard for $10 more why not do that. Forget about that Motherboard you have a 533Mhz CPU is not worth buying new these days.

As for Tigerdirect, I think they are just fine as a company. But STAY AWAY from their rebates, in absolutely no case should you include their rebates in the price of the product you buy from them. I'd rather go to the Casino and bet my money than depend on a rebate from them.

tigerdirect has one for $199.99. Should I steer clear of them? I have heard of some complaints involving tigerdirect.
