HP Pavilion XH555 (parts?) for S/T.

Hello there. I have a HP Pavilion XH555 laptop for sale. Well, somewhat. Here's the story. My father wanted a laptop for himself, something to email and surf the web, nothing special. He went online, and bought a HP Pavilion from some random guy that was used. He didnt think much of it, seeing as it was just a email and websurfer. The guy assured my dad nothing was damaged, and everything would work fine. It arrives, and the monitor is dark. He didnt know what to do, he figured he pressed a wrong button or something, and could turn the brightness up. That didn't work. Well, I come home from college, and realize that the backlight it busted (yay for google) (I put a light upto the screen, and you could still make out the visual, there was just no light shining on it from behind..picture a gamegear or something). Anyways, I searched online and saw that places wanted to repair it for 500+ dollars, and I couldnt find a place to sell another screen the same kind. I also didnt want my dad to pay for anything more because some scrub sold him a broken laptop. Meanwhile, my stepsister gave him her's, because she never uses it anyways. Now he has this one sitting here. My dad said I could have it, so I decided, what the hell, I might as well open it up and see if I could fix the screen. I used the search on here, got the info, opened it up, and screwed up. So now I have the screen in parts, and a working "computer" (I guess that's what you would call it..). It has:
AMD 1 Ghz
20 gig HDD
512 ram
cd rom burner/dvd player
perfect battery
powerchord to plug it in
floppy drive
usb ports and other plugs in the back (monitors etc.)

I dont feel like dealing with it anymore, and rather have someone else that knows what they are doing either buy it and get a screen, or use it for parts or something. I dont know what's on the HDD, as I never saw it in action. The thing starts up and sounds like it's working. All the lights turn on. Everything seems to work, and was working before (when I shined the light against the monitor)> I clicked on the startmenu and everything, then just shut it down. Didnt go into programs or anything, as you couldnt really see that good. Anyways, if anyone is interested it's for sale/trade.

I am interested in:
External/Internal HDD's
Blank DVD media
500W+ PSU's
17inch LCD Monitors
Money**

**In all honestly, I dont know how much these laptops go for. My father paid 1000 shipped, and it was used. I looked on pricewatch, and didnt see it. I also looked at ebay, and all I saw was the powerchord. I think 600 is fair, but I dont know. If it's low, then good for you, snatch it up. If it's to high, then please post/PM me (and also give evidence, not "I can get it for 200 at the local shop). Thanks **

I also have a USB2 High Speed Cable from Belkin. Never used it. My dad got it when he bought his Sony desktop..I dont know why..but whatever. I'll sell it for 13 shipped. Or tade for the items above too.

I accept Paypal mainly, but will consider MO.

I can get pictures tomorrow earliest, as my camera is in my car, and my brother took it tonight. So, if you are interested, but need pics, dont you worry

Thank you for looking.

John

Pictures

Pictures as promised. As you can see, I attatched the screen casing just for protection during shipping. The battery, Ram, and everything else is there. Sorry the pictures aren't the clearest, but I dont really know how to get them clearer. It says it's 4.0MP, but I've seen 3.0 look better. Oh wells..

**EDIT: How do I get more than one picture on it? I dont want to respond (spam) 3 more times. Thanks!**

I didnt realize that I was selling it for too much. Sorry, but I can't accept that offer, as it's too low. Maybe I will just strip it and sell the parts. Anyone interested in laptop parts?

Thanks for the response. I didnt realize the prices where that low. Maybe I could just part it out or something? I would really like to trade it though, for anything electronic really. Leave offers, as I like lots of stuff.

Thank you for letting me know about your thread.

I actually already read the post when you replied.

I completely passed over it because given your asking price, I can get a working laptop with better specs at least in terms of CPU speed. I believe you can verify this on eBay simply by searching for the terms "laptop" or "notebook" in the Completed Auctions section for Laptops Only (so you can weed out accessories, components, etc.). To narrow things down further, I recommend checking out an eBay seller named "buyessex", who sells laptops in varying states of operation.

If we decided to get an Athlon running at 1.0 GHz, I found a buyessex auction for a Compaq Presario 1200 Laptop (Item number: 6729851967) which ended somewhere above $300. It's only one auction, but I think it's in the middle of the ballpark, even if most of the auctioned laptops don't have a hard drive.

I also am having much trouble finding parts for the XH555 on eBay. That dearth would force me to look elsewhere, and likely pay a less competitive price for a backlight board. All I have found are RAM chips and AC adapters (as of NYD).

Since what you have is essentially a desktop system, I'm willing to offer $200 shipped, because I believe that's a fair price for a desktop system with the specs you mentioned.

After looking around, I am willing to sell it for $450, or offer trades/partial trades. Thanks.
