WTB/WTTF: Complete/Barebones laptop or Laptop parts
My goal is to own a laptop with these features:
- at least 700 MHz (Intel or AMD)
- LCD with a resolution of at least 1024x728 (32-bit) and at least 14" in size
- touchpad pointing device
- at least a DVD-ROM or CD-RW
- 512 MB or more RAM
- 10 GB or larger hard drive
I'll be happy to consider your complete setup, and ...
I'm especially interested in a barebones setup, and even more interested if that barebones setup is from the Sony Vaio FX, FXA or XG series. For those Sony models, you can pull the hard drive (but please leave the caddy/cable inside), RAM, optical drive, battery, and AC adapter, and I can still work with that.
If you're open to trades, I'd love to hear about what you seek. Probably all that I can offer are desktop parts, and Palm OS PDA parts, pro-line golf clubs, and broken PDAs for partial trades.
I **DO** have three broken laptops for trading (and only for the exchange of laptop components and parts or complete laptops). All three have (what I believe are) good LCDs, but the motherboards are not in working order.
- Sony Vaio PCG-FX250K - water damage special. Green power light and that's all I'm seeing.
- Sony Vaio PCG-FX140 with one extra motherboard/CPU - Power will go to the green power light and the amber hard drive light, but that's all the activity I saw on one motherboard. I bought the 2nd one on eGay, but I have that sneaky suspicion that the seller withheld the true knowledge of the condition of the 2nd motherboard.
- Gateway 600YGR - The adapter can charge the battery, but that's all I'm seeing. Nice LCD, though, but I have yet to see it in action.
Thanks for reading!
