Laptop Processor Chip

Hi there, I'm looking to upgrade my laptop Processor chip. here is the information that i have for it...

North Bridge Properties:

North Bridge: Intel 82443BX/ZX
Revision/Stepping: 03/C1
Package Type 492 Pin BGA
Package Size 3.5cm x 3.5cm
Core Voltage 3.3V
In-Order Queue Depth: 4

can I upgrade from a PIII 400 to a PIII 800?

any help would be great... I don't even know where to buy one either... so any suggestions would be awesome.

From what I have read, the LS series has the CPU integrated onto the motherboard. That means it is not possible to change it out for a new one.

The only way to confirm this is to open up your LS and find out. Though I'd only recommend opening up a laptop if you know what you are doing.

Thanks for the bumps

I don't think this will help you given that you have a BGA processor, but Tom's hardware has a very good article about the older Intel lappy CPUS http://www6.tomshardware.com/cpu/20001107/index.html

Maybe you can use this in the future if you get another laptop. And by the way, I still have those PIII 700 Mhz Mobile CPU's sitting around if you ever need them.
