That doesn't quite answer his question.

I got a Terayon TJ 715 modem, it works great and is docsis 2.0 modem(Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification), even looks good and stands up or lays down which is plus for me anyway. Mine comes to $150, tho you could get a better deal on it tho or another one, this one just works well for me, here it is:

now with u guys owning cable modems? I use RR, my cable provider high speed service and they just bring out a modem to use( in this case i have 2 pc's so one is wireless) so i have a wireless modem/router(which i am direct connect) for my pc and my daughter just uses a wireless USB connect modem and they both have superb speed. Is there a reason for buying your own modem? just curious and don't meen to get off subject here...

if u dont buy your own...it means you are renting one...with adelphia I think it was $3/month so after 1 year youve paid $36 for the modem. I bought mine used for like $35 so I would have saved in the end.

Except I switched to verizon amd they brought a dsl modem over and I dont know if its rented now or if I just return it or what, lol.

JP

one snag about owning, is that if there is a lightning storm and your cable is knocked out...YOU replace the modem....if its rented THEY replace it.

Actually, I'm buying this for a friend. Anyway, it all depends on your ISP. Like Road Runner, the cable modem is free rental. I have switched to RCN and they rent cable modems like $3.oo/month.
