OT: How do you ship your ram?

Anyone mind telling how shipping ram would be good? I was thinking bubblewraping it twice then slip it in a protective envelope? Or instead putting it in a small box filling it up with peanuts? Or would both be seen as ok ways of packing.

i put it in a static bag, then put it in a small box w/ bubble wrap or peanuts. (the envelopes are flimsy)

I've received ram from a large memory retailer and they put it in a cardboard envelope. Seemed a little iffy to me but it was ok.

i have received ram in anti-static bags, wrapped in bubble paper, then put in a bubble paper envelope and arrived perfect.

I shipped my ram out in anti-static bags, then in a padded(bubblepaper) envelope, then i put it in a small box. Just to be safe. Seemed to work, the customer said works great.

Food

There are a LOT of different types of plastic that can carry a static charge, bubblewrap and styrofoam and the styrofoam peanuts will and do carry a static charge MOST of the time.. and so on, anti-static bags will not, place the memory sticks together, so that they are kinda stacked on on another, then wrap them kinda like you would do with ?? rolling a smoke! then use a taunt but not tight fitting bubber band to hold it closed, as MOST tapes too can cause a static charge, thats why you use the rubberbands, your saying so what they are in a anti-static bag, but the charge WILL go to you and stay there TILL you dischage on something, hopefully not your memory, or what ever it is you have packed in the anti-static.. hope this helps.. Cardboard is a good shipping medium for anti-static protection..

I would have to agree with putting the RAM in an anti-static bag 1st. Then, you can use some bubble wrap around the bagged RAM at that should fair well.

It is also not a bad idea to put the RAM (wrapped in anti-static bag + bubble wrap) in a small, shallow box. Then, place that box in the 'shipping' box. Just make sure the small box does not have room to bounce around in the shipping box. And I would also suggest insurance. I just received a USPS Priority Mail package that was mangled to death.

When I've ordered Muskin RAM a few times from New Egg , I have received it this way and it works out well. They put the RAM (already in anti-static bags) and wrap it in bubble wrap and put that inside a small flat white box, which they then put inside the Fed Ex box and fill it in with packing peanuts or more bubble wrap so it does not move.

And as brought up in an earlier post, the person handling the RAM should be aware that the plastic bubble wrap and other packing materials can make some static electricity. So they need to make sure to discharge themselves before handling the RAM (and yes -- for you funny guys out there -- make sure they understand that you mean for them to 'discharge' the static electricity from themselves, not anything else )

hansbroken described how I always ship ram - anti-static bag, bubble wrap, small cardboard box, then either a padded envelop or a bigger box with extra padding (peanuts or bubble wrap) inside.

I usually put them in an anti static bag, then inside of a peanut filled box.

Or I will use a ram enclosure which is static free and put that in a peanut filled box. If I don't have any peanuts, I pop a bag of popcorn
