Sony Vaio came with no recovery CDS!

I purchased a Sony Vaio PCG-GRT260G yesterday. It came with a lot of crap that I didn't need so I reformatted the hard drive. It turns out that it had Giga Pocket and Click-to-DVD and there is seemingly no free way to get them back. The problem is that the notebook came with no recovery CDs. They had a 5 GB backup partition which I deleted before I found out what it was for. This is completely ridiculous considering that this is a $2600 laptop. I'm pissed that they don't provide any recovery CDs with the system. Does anyone know of any way that I could get click-to-DVD and the Giga Pocket software again without having to BUY the recovery CDs.

Nope, I bet you are going to have to buy em.

Next time, look before you leap. Luckly this time it will be cheap to fix.

I would return it to the store and buy a laptop with disks. Where are you going to be if the HD dies? Up the creek!

Warranty? I am sure they would ship you new disks with the HDD. If you are going to upgrade it, backup that partition.

So, lie about your screw up and expect them to bail you out? Real stand up attitude there...

call sony & ask them for the recovery disk. if they operate anywhere like ibm, you should be able to get them free within the first 30 days.

i HATE it when companies stop including recovery disk with their systems. i think only dell and hp are the only ones who still do, of the Tier 1 vendors.
