Systems Auto Updating, look in please

Hello guys/gals.

I have a new website on the block called DreamManager. Its an online game in a Play by Mail system. When a Manager comes online, and wants to edit his team, how can i do it so that it automatically edits it and saves it. I want it so there is a multi-page such as "team, strategy, stadium, transfers" but as i said before at the moment, they mail the form to us and we have to change it all by hand. And its a real pain.

Any feedback & advice welcome

Thanks again

Steven

P.s. www.dreammanager.uk.tt for a sneak peak.

If your host supports it - you could use php, asp, perl, or a cgi using c++ or whatever and use these server pages to communicate with the files you want updated allowing the user to change the files in real time without any assistance from you. There are plenty of online tutorials for this.

If you cannot run server side scripts from your domain you can use XML for a database and use client side Javascript to read and modify the data. Do a search in google for information on this. There is plenty... Also go to your local bookstore and you will find hords of info on server side scripts and XML...

Hope this leads ya in some kind of direction.

thanks for that m8y, gave me some idea of which way i want to go.
Say i do it as like Javascript. I'm Using Frontpage 2003 v11

Say i create it so that there is a drop-down menu and that the person can select a player and then click "submit" for that player to be saved into that position.

how would i save that to a file???
