Need Help Deciding

Hi all,
After all else, I am finally going to upgrade my mobo/proc/ram,but am undecided on whether to go Intel or AMD.
It will be doing some music recording/distributed computer/gaming/ and general writing and websurfing.Which way should I go?(not trying to start a flame war, just want a machine that will be able to keep up for 2 years, as that is when I seem to upgrade). Any input would be helpful, thx.

That's kind of the way I feel. When you compare prices between the two you realize how much more inexpensive AMD processors are. I switched to AMD about 4 years ago and have never looked back.

If you have the amount of cash to get an Intel, do that. If you are in a budget or dont need a super CPU and want to save some money get AMD.

this makes no sense at all...if your budget is unlimited, you're basically able to buy anything. the fastest CPU out there in most benchmarks is the opteron.

thus if unlimited funds, a dual 248 opteron would be the way to go. the opteron simply crushes the p4EE and beats even the fastest dual xeons.

Well I'd go for the AMD.

At our office we normally only buy Intel since my boss prefers that. Now even he's joined the bandwagon and moved to AMD mainly because of its affordability.

Sounds good all. Guess I'll try AMD this time around, as I am budget concious. Been using Intel For years. Now, opinions on motherboard brands.Asus?Gigabyte? AOPen?Abit?MSI? Have owned MSI and AOpen Boards in the past, but I look for features and stability. Also, anyone had luck overclocking the new 2500+ Bartons that are now multiplier locked? Also, most of the games I play are primarily flight sims.

I have my 2500+ Barton, O'ced to 3200+ with no voltage or multiplier changes

I am planning on unlocking the multiplier later though.
