dvd drive help needed

i need some help..
im trying to play a dvd in my comp's drive (region free dvd)
but it keeps locking up powerdvd, and wmp cant even see the disk

the drive plays other movies fine, and its the second dvd in a set of three.. the first played fine..

power dvd says the disk may be scratched or damaged (sometimes), but it is brand new and totally clean of everything including scratches.. it also plays fine on our seperate dvd player (hooked to tv)

generic dvd rom, windows calls it: JLMS DVD-ROM LTD-166S

have you tried WinDVD 5? i've been using windvd for a long time and i have no problems viewing dvd movies using a lite on dvd drive..

check if your dvdrom head is clean or not too..
