I don't wish to sound stupid, but last night I noticed what looks like a small speaker cone attached face down to the bottom of my PC case...its wired into the MOBO..the reason I'm asking is because a friend has donated me his PC and his didn't have one!
His also has a fan under the PSU that mine doesn't..w3ould it be a good idea to use this in mine?
great philisophies started out as one simple question..
some old motherboards have that 2" speakers attached to the case. while new boards have onboard speakers..

Some also have a tiny speaker molded into the bracket that holds the front case fan. I prefer the 2" speakers myself because they produce more sound. I can hear them beep in a noisy room when the PC POSTs.
Some PSU's come with two fans...one at the rear blowing outwards. Then another on the bottom sucking air into the PSU case which is then blown out bay the rear fan. This is a relatively new feature, and many PSU's are still being made with just the rear fan blowing out, and vents in the PSU case for fresh air to be drawn in. The two fan setup is probably better than the one fan because heat buildup in the PSU case should be much less, which will increase the life of the PSU. Heat is the enemy of all electronics
Prior to trying to change power supplies make sure they are the same type. They come in AT and ATX styles. Check the plug that connects to the motherboard.
