Keeping text size the same no matter what!

Hi!!

I've been viewing some websites to help give me ideas for my site. I use IE broswer and on some sites if you click on 'View' and then click on 'Text Size>>Largest' the text on the site gets really big, if you click on 'Smallest' the text gets small. On other sites, I selected largest text size but the text on the site didn't enlarge, it didn't resize at all. The text stays the same no matter how you view the site. How is this done??? How can I keep the text size on my site to stay the same no matter how anyone sets there text settings on their broswer??? Please give me the exact codes to use and where to paste it, either in HTML or CSS.

THANKS!!!!!!!

If you hold the control key and scroll up or down, it does the same thing.

Yes that does work too. But on some sites, it doesn't work. The text stays the same no matter what you do. You can scroll for hours and the text stays put. I want to know how that's done.

It's html code in page. Something like this:

<html>
<head>
<title>How to set a fixed text size</title>
<style type="text/css">
<!--
p {font-size:12px}
pre{font-size:10px}
h1{font-size:24px}
h2{font-size:18px}
-->
</style>
</head>
<body>
<h1>This is an example of CSS</h1>
<p>CSS is really useful.</p>
<pre> I set a fixed font for my page!</pre>
</body>
</html>

Not real great for people that need to have the font larger, but pretty cool. Socal helped me with this a while back.

I prefer the smaller fonts rather than the larger ones. :P

Yes, you can use fixed pixel sizes, but what if someone comes to your site who doesn't have 20/20 vision? Or more probably, you're one of those who designs/uses 1024x768 (or higher) and then uses tiny type. I have 20/20 vision and a 19" monitor and I don't like such sites. I want type I don't have to squint at! I stare at a computer too many hours a day.

Flexibility is the name of the game. Flexible design to go with most screen resolutions. Flexible fonts for easy viewing for the largest viewing audience. High contrast colors -- what about the colorblind population? Not just black/white colorblind, but red/green (more people than you think). There are plenty of reasons why your audience isn't going to be looking at your page the same way you do. In fact, MOST of your audience isn't going to see your page as you do. AOL is notorious for eating screen space and altering things. Yet (WAYYY TOO) many people still love their AOL.

Now, if you're desiging for other gamers/techies, that's one thing. But if you're desiging for the general public, an analytical cruise of the major public sites is in order. Amazon, whitehouse.gov, yahoo, ebay. What do they do that you like, what do they do that you hate, and WHY do they do what they DO?
