Thanks for yor rapid response. I had to reinstall Win 98 and when I try to access Internet explorer I am told there is not enough memory and it won't open. I have 2.12 gb used on C drive with 16.5gb open. If you can help me so I can open Internet explorer I would appreciate it. I am writing this on my XP.

at boot up, you would usually see some numbers appearing.. your system memory should be among those... and during boot, the memory is usually tested and scanned... just be quick in finding it out. POST can happen so fast.. unless you place a password.

In win98 right click on "My Computer" icon and select properties. You'll see it in lower right corner.

To "low memory in explorer" purge your internet caches and temp files. That usually work.
