overclockin

hey every1 im new 2 overclokcin but would like my pc 2 run games faster

when i play vice city or nfs underground the game usually stutters

my pc stat is:

amd athlon xp 2800+
1GB DDR SDRAM PC2700
Gigbyte GA 7n400 Pro 2
geforce fx 5200 128MB (planning to upgrade to radeon 9600XT 128MB)
120GB HDD
Soundblaster audigy 2

When i look at my motherboard manual it shows the different frequencies i can set my FSB frequency from 100mhz to 200mhz. currently its at 133MHz giving at resulting frequency off 266mhz. would there be any problem makin it to 200MHz with my current pc stats.

there is also a setting in my bios called AGP frequency and i can set it 2 normal or from 50MHz to 100MHz. default is ormal. what does this setting doe?? How would i chnage my AGP aperture size from 64MB to 128 MB cos i cant find the setting in my BIOS.

just as a note, i feel that the reason your game stutters is because of the 5200 only. if you upgraded to 9600xt the problem would be fixed.

as for overclocking, i do not know much, but i do know that you should go in small incriments and not just jump into it. as for large overclocks you will need better cooling. also, memory quality can be a factor.

i think the slowdown is probably due to the graphics card mainly and my FSB rate and agp aperture size (64mb). cos my HDD is 7200rpm so its about average and i run disk defrag once a week
