Keep freezing

My pc keeps on freezing up on me. This started about three days ago. I have install an anti virus on my pc. Could this be the problem? Also sometimes when i am on a page the icon signal is busy without me trying to click on it.

When something like this happens to me right after installing (or updating) some application, I usually uninstall the application and see if the problem will go away. Sometimes an antivirus application is not easy to uninstall because you never really get all traces off of the machine..but, the AV software is powerful by the nature of the thing.. and they do have problems.

With Win98SE, you can also run DrWatson which comes with the Win98 1st and 2nd edition and you will get more info than the normal 'illegal operation' dialog.

Go to start -> run and type drwatson...hit OK. All you will see is an icon sitting in the taskbar near the clock etc. DrWatson is now running and will record the errors...which sometimes will tell you what caused the failure.

Go to start -> find -> files or folders. Type drwatson in the "named box" and click 'find now'. (be sure the look in window is set to look on the C: drive..if that is where your Win98 is at).

drwatson should have installed with Windows as a default and reside in C:\Windows. It is an executable application, and will run when you did the run execution. If there was no drwatson installed, or you mis-typed it..you would have received an error.

You can go directly to the windows folder, scroll until you have the executables..look for drwatson.exe and double click it to get it to run manually..but that should not be necessary unless something is wrong with the application. It can be removed and reinstalled if need be.

LMK what happens.
