virus question

Not sure if you handle this kind of thing but here goes.
I've been getting Mailer Daemon returned messages in my JUNO inbox with the virus Mydoom. These are messages I never sent but they say they came from my computer. I have Norton antivirus on always. I Ran the virus scan and came up blank then ran the removal tool and it also said no virus. Are these messages coming from my machine? If not why do they appear as returned mail? Thanks for any help you can give me.

These viruses disguise the sender's address and more than likely you are getting them from someone else's computer whose address book has been compromised by the virus.

Your address is in that person's book and the virus is auto mailing to you.

I;ve been getting the same thing. Avg catches everyone that has anything active in it.

They are the latest of our virus crop running around out there "MyDoom"

They died off for a few days and then started back up just a day or so ago. Turns out whoever wrote it to begin with is using the backdoor it installs trying to start things up all over again.

Some where, some body, with your email addy is infected.

Ditto here, we have been getting them at work quite regularly... for us the tip off is that they are sent at times when their computer is off.

The morons that have nothing better to do with their lives than send out virii are at work here.

they have a way of manipulating email so that you get what appears to be a message saying you tired to send a message but it was returned. You never sent that message in the first place, so just delete it, it is a trick with a virus in it.
Its basically no different than the one that says its from microsoft and all that.
If you dont recognize something just delete it, simple as that.

Course all good antivirus that has email capabilities will tell you there is a virus there, long as you have your antivirus options set correctly. Norton AV and AVG are 2 good examples of AV that will catch these things and there are more good AV out there as well.
But the rule is, if it looks strange just delete it real fast!

You probably don't have mydoom. This worm is spoofing your email address when it sends itself. It probably picked up your address from an infected PC.

Crouse set up an email redirect for me over at his site. When anyone wants to get in touch they can send email to the address he set up and it redirects the messages to my real email. It's not even a real email account but I've been getting messages like you saying I'm sending out mydoom from an address that's not even capable of sending email.
