learning linux with knoppix

I've just used knoppix for the first time, and i intend on using it to become familiar with the workings of linux. The problem is i just dont know where to begin, could someone point me in the right direction or to some good info?

I have another problem, I need to be logged in as root, but i dont know how to do it on knoppix. I must be logged in as a user because I'm trying to install software and getting permission denied. How would i do this?

from a terminal I think you can just type "su" and it will prompt you for the password for root. Ive only done this in mandrake so forgive me if its not universal for knoppix

Send a message via ICQ to Virus
Knoppix is a little different then any other linux install.

To switch to root you just type 'su' into a console. Unlike any other linux destro, it won't ask you for a password. Installing software on Knoppix is almost impossible, since many of the system directories reside on the CD.
