Curious.... Temp readings Advanced ACPI setting

I noticed when I changed my CPU to "ACPI Multiprocessor" the temps went up. So I decided to change it back to Uniprocessor, but, you can't. So I set it to Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) and my temps went from:

33-34c CPU Idle (Multiprocessor) to 26-27c Idle (ACPI)

Is this normal? Sorry if it's a dumb question, I just noticed it.

Oh it's a P4 2.53GHz CPU...... Win. XP PRO

Care to tell where you did the change?

Device Manager under CPU.

Also the BIOS is at AUTO.

BTW: it's also overclocked to 2.8GHz

Ok, now I am at 3GHz and 27c -28c Idle. ACPI is set to AUTO in the BIOS and under Device Manager, CPU, it is set to Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI).

Anyone understand how this could drop my temps? The reading is the same in Windows and the BIOS. Hmmmmmm......
