Systems Resolution Problems!

I run my computer with the Resolution 1152x864, now most of the games that are able to run in that resolution is fine, there is no problem opening those games or files.
However if i open a game or video clip that has a lower resluiotn eg. 1024x768 then the monitor will have a hard time adjusting and you can see the screen go black anf attempt to change resolution. Sometimes it may work but oftenly it will return to the desktop with the game minimised and unable to play. This has happened on numerous occasions with Raven shield so i just gave up. Would could cause this problem? As there are some good games out there that for some reason are only made with a few resoultions that dont include mine and this really frustrates me. Is it the game? the computer? the Graphics card? or the settings?

I have a :
P4 2.4 Ghz
1ghz DDram
Geforce FX 5900 128mb
Latest Nvidia Drivers
Direct X9b
All the latest stuff

You can try changing your resolution to something more normal (like 1280x1024). I've heard that RS is kinda buggy (never played it myself).

ya i would try setting it to a normal resolution. As for performance, your video card should be able to hadle it, if not just try going to a lower normal resolution. Who runs there comp at 1152x864 anyway???

Somewhat, but when you have a FX 5900, you can run stuff at 1600x1200 with decent settings. No worries mate.

Well, Resolutions depends greatly on your monitor as well, and I don't think you posted what monitor you have, which could be the reason why you have such an awkward resolution.

If the monitor supports the resolution you use then it's probably a software side problem.! The video card you have is capable enough!
