Help burning Knoppix image with Nero

I want to try out linux, and i chose knoppix because it boots from a cd. I downloaded it via bittorrent and once it finished i had to search through what i downloaded looking for the actual image file im supposed to burn. I found a file thats about 700 megs and looks like a cd image, but windows doesnt recognize it and calls the file type "file". Also when i try to burn it with nero i get an "unexpected file type" error message.

funny you should mention knoppix...I'm using it right now!
try renaming the file to have the *.iso extension. maybe the file just has a weird suffix.
you could also try "deep Burner" or other free burning software available (easily to find) at Download.com.

I'm using knoppix on my mini-itx puter (800mhz C3 Samuel Via EPIA V) with 512mb sdram, and a whopping 150w psu! (with 80gig hdd, and an old cd burner)

fun stuff. I tried to install College Linux this afternoon, but I don' tknow what to do after reaching the "#" menu upon boot, so I just loaded knoppix for my quick fix.

gl to you!
