What's a good AA recharger for my digicam?
If I'm not careful, my Fujifilm 2MP digicam can chew through a 10 pack of AA batteries before my mom's camera (a Nikon with a proprietary battery and charger) gets to the half-way markl. So I've decided in after spending over $50 in batteries that I need to get a NiMH or NiCad, but what's the best one? I was thinking a Kodakwould be obvious, given their history with cameras.

I have a Fuji that uses 4 AA NiMH batteries. But since we use it mostly for Ebay pics [taken in the house] I bought an ac adapter off of Ebay. Fuji gets about $50 for an adapter while they are $20 on Ebay. The NiMH batteries are the best to get. Kodak does NOT have a very good reputation for digital cameras. You should be able to buy NiMH batteries and use them in your current camera. Cameras use the batteries up FAST due to the LCD screen on the back. My charger is just a Wal-mart special and works fine. About the size of a deck of cards, holds 4 AA at one time.

Hmm, yeah I thought about getting an adapter, but I'm not always using it at home. Might be worth it though when I'm near an outlet.
Also - just to clarify I'm not really getting the batteries to recharge (although I will obviously), but the NiMH rechargeables last a hell of a lot longer than normal alkalines.

Radio Shack has a great unit for about $35.00
It has the feature called "Negative Pulse Charging" this minimizes gas bubble formation that kills NiMH batteries.
Check with Thomas Industries for more info, don't have time to grab the URL right now.

| We use that at work and I can vouch, it is awesome, it really takes only fifteen mintues (has a cooling fan that sounds like a small prop plane taking off though). We were so shocked when we first tried it. |

Plus, I get over twice the pictures from one charge on my NiMH batteries (1950mah) that I did from a pair of medium-quality alkalines.
(really)

I got mine at newegg. But it looks like they're not carrying it right now... Here is a good explaination of why alkalines don't last as long as rechargables.
