XP Pro Boot Configuration Issue

Hi all,

Windows XP Pro somehow installed all boot files to my second hard drive? The hard drive is an old, unreliable, noisy POS that I want to remove from my system. It is only a slave drive with nothing on it. I used to store some files on it for security reasons but now do not need it. Originally the hard drive was a removeable hard drive in my old computer (a WD 14G hard drive in a CRU dataport enclosure) and when I got this new system the drive was moved into it. The system was purchased without the OS installed.

I was not here the day that XP was installed on the new computer with the old removeable hard drive in it. I have no idea what the person did who installed the OS, but back to the story.

Back to the removal. I shut down computer, opened it up, removed POS hard drive, closed everything up and turned computer on. Was told I needed to mount the proper boot volume or somthing stupid like that. I shut down again, hook up old POS hard drive again and voila, system now boots up? Somehow all the boot files were installed to drive D instead of drive C. How does one go about moving the boot configuration to the C drive? Winsows XP Pro is most definitely installed to the C drive, only the boot files were installed onto drive D.

So far no one has been able to come up with a solution to my dilemma.

The best thing I could imagine to do on this is to get the free version of Ghost and do a Disk to Disk transfer.
